A small overview
In India all types of functions start with lighting ceremony and remembrance of Almighty (Creater of universe) in terms of pooja (पूजा). The the pooja is organized to create environment of clean energy by burning many holy leaves and sticks with Ghee (from Indian cow only), which is generally called havan (हवन).
In Agriculture, ploughing with the help of ox avoids the use of petroleum.
For pests there has been a culture of organic pesticides if serious pest attack happens, otherwise there was a tradition of sowing more than one crop simultaneously. These crops provide the necessary elements to each other helping more growth and repelling insects i.e. insects harmful for one crop are repelled by other thereby reducing the expenditure of farmer.
In Indian continent, from many years emphases is given to such developmental works which do not violate nature and its laws. As per the very important rule of nature, "Change" and that also slow, is always taken care of from billions of years. This rule can be seen from cooking in the kitchen to working in the daily life.
Here, there are many trees which are treated as holy tree and are worshipped for many-many years. But now, as it has been known scientifically, that the tree like pipple, produces oxygen during nights also which in general does not happen in case of other plants and trees. This shows that the knowledge of nature and is rule were known to the people in the continent for many-many years.
